We take this commitment seriously, in line with our ethos to protect the rights of any suspect detained or arrested by the police.

There have been some very important recent changes in the law relating to police powers and suspect's rights.
Once a suspect has been arrested (this now includes those detained), the police have extended powers to keep the suspect under detention for 12 hours (which can be extended to 24 hours). As part of the suspect's rights the police must, at the request of the suspect, contact a solicitor on his or her behalf to inform the solicitor of the individual's detention or arrest. The suspect also has the right to a private telephone consultation and/or the presence of a solicitor prior to, during and after any interview. We will attend for such interviews. Call 01506 497500
